just send it?

Hey Reader,

I get asked this a lot: "Do I need to build an automation for this, or can I just send it?"

A lot of the time... you can just send it.

You don't run a new pipe to water one plant. You grab a cup and water the dang thing.

But the kitchen sink you use every day? Yeah, you want that hooked up.

It's the same thing in Kit. If you're inviting your customers to one webinar next week, pick the segment, write a broadcast, and hit send (or schedule it). Then you're done.

I've watched people spend an entire afternoon building a workflow for an email that goes out once πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. That's laying a lot of pipe for a single plant.

Here's when I'd automate instead:

  1. It keeps happening, or you want it to. Every new customer gets onboarded, every new subscriber gets welcomed, every time X happens, send Y.
  2. Timing matters for each individual subscriber. Is there a deadline that's just for them?
  3. You won't remember. Be honest with yourself on this one (we've all made this mistake).

Automate the stuff that repeats, and just send a broadcast to the right segment for the rest.

So look at the emails on your list this week. Which ones are plants, and which ones are sinks that need real plumbing?

Hit reply and tell me one thing you've been meaning to automate (or one thing you over-built). I read every one.

Here's to not overthinking it!
